Julia has been conducting choirs for over 20 years and it’s an area that she is passionate about.  In the early years, Julia worked with single voice choirs and young choral groups. This progressed to training choruses for large-scale concerts with professional orchestras in sacred and secular mainstream works.

In 2013 Julia held the position of choral conductor to the Royal Opera House Chorus in Muscat for 5 years, developing the chorus from inception to fully fledged professional concerts for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.  She has worked alongside international conductors and choral directors including Rupert Huber of the Vienna Staatsoper and Bayerische Rundfunk and Roland Büchner from the Regensburger Domspatzen choir in Germany.

Motivated by her work in Oman, Julia started the Cambridge Voice Company in September 2018. The choir receive dedicated vocal training each week and Julia takes the time it takes for the singers to feel confident and progressive in their singing.

The choir is mixed voice and inclusive.  There are no requirements except an open mind and a willingness to dive into a unique process of choral development.

Rehearsals take place in the Octagon Room at the Stephen Perse Foundation, Union Road, Cambridge every Monday from  7.00 – 9.00pm
